Swimming Pool Sanitation

- POLICY
It is the policy of the University to design, construct, and operate all swimming pools in compliance with California statutes and regulations.
- PROCEDURE
- The operator of the swimming pool or spa pool should be knowledgeable of the laws and regulations relative to the pool's operation, maintenance, and sanitation.
- Proposed operational and/or construction modifications to campus pools/spas shall be reviewed by EH&S.
- The frequency of routine inspections and testing of water quality of the pools and spas shall be performed as required by State regulations.
- Complaints regarding pool/spa sanitation and safety are to be directed to EH&S for investigation.
- RESPONSIBILITY
- It is the responsibility of the department(s) operating the pools/spas to maintain the pools/spas in compliance with all State regulations.
- Whenever any modifications are proposed on the pool, the operator shall submit proper plans to the EH&S office for approval prior to initiating the work.
- The EH&S office shall monitor and/or perform routine periodic surveys on the pools/spas, respond to any complaints, and review any proposed changes in the operation or construction of the facility.
